FORTH Reaches the Next Stage

Work on Future Orthopaedics in Hässleholm (FORTH) continues according to plan, and the project has now reached an important milestone.

Over the past months, extensive testing and verification have been carried out to ensure that the stringent requirements placed on modern surgical environments are met before the project moves into its next phase. The results confirm that the solutions developed within the project perform well beyond the specified requirements.

Airtightness testing of Operating Rooms 1–6 achieved an average result of 0.09 l/s·m² at ±50 Pa, compared with the project requirement of ≤ 0.3 l/s·m². The testing was conducted in accordance with SS-EN ISO 9972:2015 and confirms the quality of both the design and execution.

“These results demonstrate that the solutions and methods developed together with our partners perform exceptionally well in practice. They provide strong validation of the quality of the delivery and give us a solid foundation as the project now moves into its next phase,” says Kenneth Helgesson, CTO at MedicSolution.

FORTH is one of Sweden’s most comprehensive orthopaedic healthcare projects, comprising six operating rooms together with associated preparation rooms, scrub areas and supporting facilities. MedicSolution is responsible for delivering the modular healthcare environments in close collaboration with Skanska.

Verifying quality at an early stage is a key part of MedicSolution’s approach. Through detailed planning, industrially manufactured components and systematic testing, potential deviations can be identified and addressed before they affect the continued progress of the project.

With the testing successfully completed and approved, the project now enters Phase 2. Installation of the framing structure for the prefabricated panels begins this week. From Week 35 onwards, installation of the prefabricated panels will commence, marking another important step towards completing the new operating environments.

With Phase 2 now underway, the project continues according to plan, and we look forward to following its progress as the new operating environments gradually take shape.
