Final Inspection Approved in Uddevalla

The modular operating rooms relocated from NÄL to Uddevalla Hospital have now successfully passed final inspection and been formally approved. With this milestone achieved, the project has been completed and the new surgical capacity is ready to be brought into operation.

The project comprises four fully equipped operating rooms that had been in service at NÄL for several years. When healthcare needs changed, the decision was made to relocate the facility to Uddevalla Hospital rather than build new surgical capacity from the ground up. In total, 44 modules were dismantled, transported and reinstalled.

The relocation itself was completed earlier this year, with all modules installed on site within six intensive days. Since then, work has focused on reinstallation, system connections, verification and final commissioning activities ahead of clinical operation.

The successful final inspection confirms that the facility has been completed in accordance with the project requirements and is ready for clinical use.

– This project demonstrates how existing operating room capacity can be relocated and re-established as healthcare needs evolve. By making use of existing resources, new surgical capacity can be brought into operation significantly faster than through traditional construction. At the same time, the project demonstrates MedicSolution’s expertise in planning, executing and commissioning complex relocations of modular operating environments, says Kenneth Helgesson, CTO at MedicSolution.

The project illustrates how modular healthcare environments can contribute to a more flexible healthcare infrastructure, enabling existing investments to continue creating value even as operational needs change. For MedicSolution, it also demonstrates the company’s expertise in relocating, re-establishing and commissioning modular healthcare facilities – regardless of whether the original installation was delivered by MedicSolution or another supplier.

With the final inspection successfully completed, the next step is for the hospital to gradually bring the facility into operation, restoring surgical capacity as an active part of healthcare delivery within the Västra Götaland Region.
